A new year always brings change and there are several changes within our teaching staff.

Our Heads of Year, who move from one year group to the next each year, for 2026 will be:

Year 7 – Erin Buckingham

Year 8 – Nicole Walker

Year 9 – Sophie Boller

Year 10 – Jake Compton

Year 11 – Kate Montgomery

Year 12 – Tom Smithers

Some of our staff members are going on parental leave either at the end of this year or early next year – Mrs Lara Montgomery (Head of Year); Mrs Melissa Faulkner (HPE - Primary and Secondary); Ms Emma Cameron (Art and English); Mrs Morgan Schiller (Primary).

In addition to those departures, Ms Helen Lobegeiger (Head of Faculty – HPE) is on long service leave in Term 1 and Mrs Suzy Edwards will be the Acting Head of Faculty.

Two teachers who have been on extended leave have also resigned, hoping to return sometime in the future when they return to Brisbane - Mr Matt Ambrose (Drama, Biology) and Ms Katie Lewis (Primary).

We have been grateful to Mr Peter Foster (Visual Art) and Mrs Courtney Coore (Primary) who stepped in to help us during the year as other teachers went on leave and no doubt, they will remain familiar faces completing supply teaching on the campus in 2026.

We say farewell to Mrs Kristin Juel (French); Mr Yujin Yi (Maths); Mr Daniel Moes (Maths and HPE); and Ms Yvonne Grieve (Primary Art Technician) who have been with us either part of this year or the full year. We thank them for their service to the school and wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

Sadly, Mr Jon Cox is leaving us after four years in Primary and Learning Enhancement. We thank Mr Cox for his dedication to achieving the highest outcomes for his students. Also leaving us is Mr Clayton Howard after four years teaching in the primary school. We are sad to see him go and are very grateful for his commitment and his teaching expertise.

All our departing teachers will be missed, and we wish them well. They leave us with our gratitude for being contributing staff members and we recognise them for their support of 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s. They have impacted positively many students over their time teaching and participating in the extra-curricular program at the school and have demonstrated wonderful commitment to 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s.

We have recruited new staff for 2026, and I will introduce those new members of staff in the first newsletter article next year.

Keitumetse: Going to Sydney was such a surreal experience. From seeing the pictures of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge online, to seeing them in person was wonderful I couldn’t believe it. During Covid all I used to watch was Bondi Rescue, so going to Bondi Beach and taking a photo with a lifeguard was a moment I’ll never forget, and a highlight of my exchange. The tour at the Opera House was beautiful. Learning about how and when it was built was very eye-opening. I enjoyed being able to appreciate the wonderful architecture and how each room was so carefully designed. Going into the concert hall was so magical it felt like I was in a movie.

Meagan: 100,000 steps later we had explored all over Sydney- what an experience. Being in Sydney felt like being in a whole other universe. I just remember constantly looking around in amazement of everything I can see, the buildings felt like I was in Rome, while being in the city of New York. Not to be cliche but the highlight of my trip was by far the Sydney Opera House, it felt like I was in a movie. The song that kept on playing in my mind was ‘Unwritten’, I was just waiting for the helicopter. I loved learning about the history behind the architecture and the amazing yet sad story behind it all. The best thing I had heard was Ms Crabbe saying, "sometimes the best memories are the small things that happen," and it was because one of my favourite highlights was us sitting in front of the Opera House watching the sun go down, it was so simple yet so, so lovely. I couldn't wait to finally see a kangaroo and koala but instead we were amazed by a little chimp that we watched for like 40 minutes swinging up and down a rope, laughing like it was putting a show on for us. Just before the trip we had to fill in a bingo card and it was so amazing to see something or try something and be like yep now we can cross that off. All the girls who have been to Sydney always say it is their highlight of their trip and with a full belly and cramping feet I can definitely join in on saying that was definitely one of the highlights of my Australia trip.

Bella: Our Sydney trip was truly amazing. I loved being exposed to different cultures and exploring the huge city. My favourite things we did in Sydney was the tour of the Opera House, seeing and hearing about its history and how it has evolved today was very captivating. Seeing the Australian wildlife at the Tooronga Zoo was out of the ordinary from our usual ‘’big 5’’ animals back in South Africa and was very fascinating. My most treasured memory of all was after a long day of exploring we would all go out for dinner together and the conversations and laughs shared will always be one of my favourites.

Nia: One of the many things I looked forward to when coming on exchange was the Sydney trip. We spent 3 days and 2 nights down in Sydney which was such an exciting experience. The best parts about Sydney for me included seeing the Opera House and learning about its history which was fascinating, seeing the chimpanzee’s at Taronga Zoo, talking to the locals around as they were so sweet and kind and the bonds I strengthened with my friends. One of the lessons I learnt while being in Sydney was to never take anything for granted because moments come and go, and that these moments will one day turn into memories so cherish every moment.

Sage: The trip to Sydney was an unforgettable experience, and I had an amazing time sightseeing and exploring the city. One of my favourite activities was our tour of the Opera House. Learning about the architects and their innovation was inspiring, and the view of the harbour was incredible! Bondi Beach was so beautiful, and the waves were such a gorgeous teal. We also visited Taronga Zoo, which was really fun even though birds kept trying to steal our food. Overall, the trip was really fun and I had an incredible time!

Listening to the students perform various musical melodies and arrangements proved how much beauty and grace can come from learning to listen to one another and make space for the uniqueness of every person. Together the year-level bands wowed us with the product of their commitment and practice. Thank you to everyone who made these events happen.

At these primary celebrations, students were acknowledged for the school value that they have demonstrated consistently throughout the year. These students are a reminder of the importance of values-in-action. The fact that every student is known for living out (at least) one value in our community, means that they also display integrity – they don’t just speak about our school values they align them with their words and actions.

We live in a world of words – words that tell us what we should wear, how we should look, what new things we need, how problems will be solved, etc., etc. This cacophony of words can become so noisy that we lose sight of what keeps us on course, our values. How do we remain aligned with our values and what we believe is important? Part of remaining true to ourselves and our values is self-care, pausing, taking a moment, telling the stories that are important for our spirituality, our families, our communities.

For us at 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s, we continue to tell the story of the 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s Way –  ‘How do I want to feel every day when I come to school?’ and ‘What am I doing to ensure others can feel this way?’ In continuing to ask these questions we shape our actions in such a way that we know ourselves and our needs, and we care for our neighbours’ needs.

All of our 2025 Year 12 boarders have completed their External Exams, meaning that the boarding house is feeling slightly empty for the remaining few weeks. This means, however, that our Year 11 leaders have officially stepped up, and I congratulate Tilly and Bridget for their leadership of the Boarding House thus far. The girls received their Senior Jerseys on Monday and have now started wearing their senior collars. 

This week is all about planning for 2026, with our incoming boarder sleepovers - the 2026 Year 8-11s joined us on Wednesday, and the 2026 Year 7s on Thursday. I look forward to welcoming them into our boarding community and giving them a preview of what their future years as a boarder will look like. As we start the process of new boarders joining our community many of our current girls are looking forward to stepping up and taking on the role of Big Sister or Buddy. These two roles are integral to the smooth transition of our new girls into the Boarding House.

Our Christmas Dinner certainly showed the creativity of the girls in the Boarding House. Although some girls had costumes many of the girls made their costumes from the dress up boxes in the Boarding House and other random items lying around the Boarding House. The girls enjoyed the evening and celebrated another year at 91ÇÑ×Ó Margarets and boarding.

Release of 2025 Subject results and Senior Education Profiles to students from QCAA

Year 12 final subject results and Senior Education Profiles (SEPs) will be released to Year 12 students online on Wednesday 17 December. All Year 12 students can access final subject results as well as their SEP in their learning account. Learning accounts are found in the 91ÇÑ×Óudent Portal, accessed via the myQCE website at , all Year 12 students have access to their own student portal. I encourage all Year 12s to check they can access their QCAA 91ÇÑ×Óudent Portal.

On 17 December each student will be able to view their SEP that will contain the following documents:

• Senior 91ÇÑ×Óatement

• Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)

SEPs are issued as electronic documents stored in students’ learning accounts. These documents are official and can be downloaded as secure PDFs. 91ÇÑ×Óudents can save their SEP on a computer or mobile device and provide it to third parties electronically or they can print it. Please note, QCAA no longer prints and posts SEPs to all Year 12 students. 91ÇÑ×Óudents may print their own SEP or they may request a printed copy of their SEP from the QCAA in the 91ÇÑ×Óudent Portal.

The SEP documents contain an embedded digital signature to confirm they are authentic, and they cannot be altered. If students print SEPs, scanning the unique QR code on the printed documents will direct users to the QCAA’s website to validate the information on the document. For more information see .

ATAR Release from QTAC

ATAR eligible students will be able to access their ATAR Score on Thursday 18 December at 9am. ATARs will be available via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) at . All students have signed up to QTAC’s ATAR Portal to access their ATAR and again I encourage all Year 12’s to confirm they can access their QTAC Portal.

To assist Year 12 students past 18 December, please find a link below to an information booklet that has been put together to assist students with managing their QTAC Application post ATAR release. The document contains information about accepting, deferring or changing offers from QTAC, information about bridging courses and contact information for people who can assist at universities post accepting offers.

For our new students, walking through our gates for the first time marks the start of what we hope will be transformative years filled with growth, discovery, and lasting connections. Creating an environment where everyone feels valued and included is not just the responsibility of our teaching staff or student leaders. Throughout Year 5, students have had the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they:

• act in roles of responsibility with integrity and honesty
• foster a sense of vision and purpose
• work with others to determine and achieve collective goals
• take on responsibilities and use decision making skills to carry a project through to a successful conclusion
• demonstrate active, reflective listening and respond effectively
• earn the respect of others through their actions.

In Semester 2, Year 5 students submitted a Year 6 leadership application in which they identified the duties they would like to be responsible for in House. House leaders are regarded as Level 2 leadership positions. 

These students may have also submitted an expression of interest to have leadership duties in Cultural and or Sporting activities.

As the end of the year draws to a close, we are currently in the process of selecting the Primary School Captains for 2026. The process we use is as follows:

1. Year 5 girls are spoken to about the role of Primary School Captain
2. All Year 5 girls nominate five (5) girls they would like to see as the Primary School Captains Voting Slip – girls are nominated 1-5 (with one being first choice)
3. Votes from Year 5 are tallied, and top candidates are identified
4. The candidates are informed and have the morning session to prepare the speech and presentation
5. Girls make their presentation to Years 3 - 6 on the same day as preparation
6. Votes are tallied (votes are weighted; Teachers and Year 5 – 3 points, Year 6 - 2 points and Years 3 & 4 – 1 point)
7. The candidates are interviewed by the Primary Leadership Team
8. They perform as MC’s for the P-2 Nativity Play
9. Results are then ratified by the Head of Primary and Principal and announced at the Acknowledgement Assembly

We have completed up to step 5 with the following girls shortlisted for Primary School Captains by their Year 5 peers. Congratulations to Lucy C H, Lucy M H, Nella J, Ines L, Primrose T, Norah V and Clementine W.

This week these girls will be interviewed and act as MCs at the Nativity Play. In 2026, these girls will become the 91ÇÑ×Óudent Representative Council.

We look forward to seeing these girls in action as they support the younger students in the P–2 Nativity Play tomorrow.

Flyers 2026

Recently 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s has been redefining how the Flyers Program will be offered to eligible students in 2026. This update will involve revised participation requirements along with new program benefits. We are looking forward to providing this new information in next week’s eNews along with a link to an updated online Application process (due by the end of Term 1, Week 2, 2026).

Primary 91ÇÑ×Órings and Band Celebrations

Congratulations to our primary music students who provided many performances at the Years 3 and 4 91ÇÑ×Órings Celebrations, and at the Year 5 Band Celebration this week. These events were wonderful opportunities for our students to showcase the skills they have learned throughout the year on their respective instruments. Thank you to our 91ÇÑ×Órings Coordinator, Mr Jonny Ng and Bands Coordinator, Dr Camille Syntageros for their efforts in preparing our students for these events.

Private Music Lessons 2026

Planning has begun for private music tuition in 2026. 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret's Private Music Lessons operate on an opt-out enrolment system. If we do not hear back from you (or you have already informed your private music teacher), your daughter's enrolment in private music lessons will be carried forward to 2026. If your daughter is unable to continue with lessons in 2026 (and you have not yet informed us), please email your private music teacher and the Music Department music@stmargarets.qld.edu.au no later than Monday 24 November 2025. If your daughter will continue lessons unchanged, you do not need to respond, and you do not need to complete any new enrolment forms.  Your private music teacher will communicate lesson arrangements by Week 1 2026, with lessons to commence during Week 2.

Hired Instruments – Return

If your daughter has hired an instrument this term, please ensure the instrument is returned by the end of this week (21 November). When the instrument is returned, please inform Ms O’Connor, or leave it in the front desk area of SHOR, so we can be aware of the return, rather than placing it in the storeroom area. Even if you plan to re-hire the instrument over the school holidays, we ask that you please arrange to first return the instrument so it can be checked and then re-issued in Week 8.

Music Support Group

The next Music Support Group meeting will be held on Tuesday 3 February 2026 at 5:00pm in the Canopy Café. We encourage parents from both primary and secondary schools to become involved.

Congratulations to our 7A and 8A AFL Juniors who played their final matches on the weekend at Yeronga. Both teams fought hard and played well on another very hot and sticky morning here in Brisbane. Our 7A team came 2^nd overall after winning all games but for the last which was against a very tough and strong opposition in 91ÇÑ×Ó Peters Lutheran College. Our 8A team came in tied 3^rd place. Thank you to our dedicated coaches who led our teams to play some great and memorable footy over this season. This week, our 9As and Junior B teams will play. It’s also our last QG fixtures for the year! We hope to see lots of supporters at Somerfields this Saturday morning and we wish these teams all the best for this final day of the AFL Junior season.

Our Cricket trials have already commenced for the 2026 season with some of our keen cricketers heading to Windsor Park this week to get in some batting and bowling practice before the summer holidays. 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s is happy to be partnering with Wilston Juniors Cricket Club again next year. Another trial will be held in early Term 1 for our new students and all our cricketers.

Before the end of term, please ensure that students have signed up for Semester 1 2026 sports. Information on all our QGSSSA sports offered in the first semester are now available on the individual sport POD pages so you can anticipate training schedules and start to plan accordingly. These sports include Cricket, AFL Snr, Artistic Gymnastics, Touch Football, Soccer, Basketball, Swimming and Cross Country and Esports. Other sports also available for sign up include Lifesaving and 91ÇÑ×Órength & Conditioning.

The sport team is happy to recognise the outstanding achievements and representation of students participating at a national level, outside of the school sport pathway. Booklists 2026

The Booklists for Pre-Prep to Year 11 2026 are now available and parents are able to order online at .  

New families to 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s in 2026 will be required to create a Campion account to gain access the Booklists. For instructions on how to set up an account please click here Campion Education How to Order. A four-character code is required and the code for 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret's is 89YV.

Orders placed by Wednesday 10 December will receive free delivery and orders will be delivered prior to the commencement of Term 1, 2026. Orders received after the cut-off date will be packed ASAP; however, Campion Education cannot guarantee delivery of these orders prior to commencement of Term 1. A delivery fee will be applied to all late orders.

Church Dress Hire - Year 6 Chapel Service

Hiring of the Church Dress for Year 6 students has now commenced. Church Dress hire forms must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. The Hire Form is available  or in the POD. A deposit holding fee of $115 is payable for the hire of the Church Dress and upon return (as per conditions listed on the hire form) a refund of $70 will be given. Plain white fold down ankle socks (not 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s competition socks), brown school shoes and a white ribbon are to be worn with the dress.

This program will give you access to manage your own account information, where you will have the ability to make bookings requests and allows you to complete and submit an online enrolment form for your child. You can do this and much, much more all within a parent portal called ’My Family Lounge’.

Please note all families who have previously submitted an enrolment form will have an account already set up; all you will need to do is click ‘forgotten password’ and use the email address you used to receive this form.

At 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s, the Private Speech and Drama Program offers a fun, supportive environment for students to gain skills in interpersonal communication, presentation, performance and public speaking. Enrolments for Private Speech and Drama lessons for 2026 are now open for students who will be in Years 2 to 12 next year.

If you would like to enrol your daughter in Speech and Drama for 2026, please complete and return the Application for Tuition form by clicking .

Places in the Program are limited and are provided to continuing students and then to new students based on the order in which enrolment applications are received and according to availability of spaces in each year level. New enrolments are requested by Monday 24 November 2025.

Parents of current students – please remember to confirm or cancel your daughter’s place in the program for 2026 by completing and submitting the electronic form that was emailed to you by your daughter’s Speech and Drama teacher. Your consideration regarding this procedure is greatly appreciated. Accurate enrolment numbers are essential for ensuring successful timetabling, suitable staffing arrangements and a smooth start to the year for current and new students.

Lessons for 2026 will commence in week two of Term One. We are looking forward to another exciting year of cultivating confident, capable communicators.

The Series has gone from strength to strength over the years, with each event drawing a sell-out crowd of 160 professionals at all levels of their careers, including CEOs, Executive and Non-Executive Directors, business owners, senior management professionals, consultants, and those transitioning (through business succession) or re-launching their careers, at each event. We also host a table of our senior students at these events and we look forward to delivering four sell out breakfasts in 2026.

The 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s P&F Association invites all girls in Years 7 to 12 and their mothers or significant women in their lives to the Secondary Mother Daughter Summer Social.

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of fun, laughter, and bonding at a premier Brisbane rooftop destination! Enjoy delicious food, refreshing drinks, and fabulous entertainment, including a live DJ spinning your favourite tunes!

91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s Fathers’ Dinner with guest speaker, Wally Lewis AM

The 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s P&F Association invites all fathers or significant father figures to the 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s Fathers’ Dinner.

This highly anticipated annual event is a highlight on the school calendar. Join us for an evening of good food, great company, and a few tales from guest speaker Wally Lewis AM, The King, as we celebrate the important role dads play in our school community.

Date:     Friday 13 March 2026
Time:    6:30pm arrival for 7:00pm start
Venue:  Rivershed at Howard Smith Wharves  
Cost:     $229 per person - includes a meal and drinks package for the evening.
Tables:  Maximum table capacity is 10 people. Seating requests can be made by nominating a Table Captain or Year Group at the time of booking. Best efforts will be made to meet any requests.

We expect this event to be incredibly popular with fathers in the 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret's community. Once we are confident that all fathers (past, present and future) have had the chance to secure their tickets, we will extend an invitation to the wider 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret's community.

Pricing for an advertisement in the 2026 Online Business Directory will be $500 per listing and this will include:

• Listing for the 2026 school year 
• Company Logo with hyperlink to your website
• Summary of your business – max 100 words
• Contact details
• Opportunity to offer special discount to 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s community
• The ability to update the advertisement at any time
• Links to the directory from the POD, as well as promotional posts for the Online Business Directory via 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s social media channels once per quarter
• An advertisement promoting the Online Business Directory will appear in 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret’s annual Flyer Magazine, distributed to over 8,000 contacts.
• Directory promoted to 91ÇÑ×Ó Margaret's parent community twice annually via Electronic Direct Mail (EDM) distribution between 1200 - 1,600.
• Businesses listed offered first right of refusal on P&F event sponsorship.
